Prof. Fabio Tosti

Biography:

Fabio Tosti (IEEE M'17–SM'19) received the M.Sc. and Eng. degrees (cum laude) in Infrastructure and Transportation Engineering from Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with European Doctorate Label (excellent rating) from Roma Tre University, in 2014. A registered Chartered Engineer, he is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the School of Computing and Engineering, University of West London (UWL), London, U.K., and the Director of “The Faringdon Research Centre for Non-Destructive Testing and Remote Sensing” at UWL. His research interests include the development of new algorithms, methodologies, and models for geoscience applications and the non-destructive and satellite remote sensing assessment, repair, and maintenance of civil and green infrastructure. He has authored/co-authored over 220 research publication records in international journals, conferences, and books and delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures. Prof. Tosti was a recipient of the ECSs Award by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) in 2017 and several Best Paper Awards at International Conferences, including the 2021 IEEE Asia–Pacific Conference on Geoscience, Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology (AGERS2021) and the IEEE 2020 43rd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP2020). He was the General Co-Chair of the 3rd and 2nd International Workshop on Signal Processing Techniques for Ground Penetrating Radar Applications in 2022 and 2020 (TSP—IEEE Conf. Record 49548), respectively, and he served as the main organiser, scientific committee member and chair of technical sessions in 50+ international conferences and workshops. He served as the managing guest editor for various journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of NDT (MDPI), and an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Pavement Engineering (IJPE), Remote Sensing (MDPI), Frontiers in Remote Sensing, Geoscientific Instrumentation, Methods and Data Systems (GI), and the Journal of Railway Engineering.

Prof. Francesco Benedetto

Biography:

Francesco Benedetto was born in Rome, Italy, on August 4th, 1977. He received the Dr. Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of ROMA TRE, Rome, Italy, in May 2002, and the PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of ROMA TRE, Rome, Italy, in April 2007. In 2007, he was a research fellow of the Department of Applied Electronics of the Third University of Rome. In 2008, he became an Assistant Professor of Telecommunications at the Third University of Rome (2008-2012, Applied Electronics Dept.; 2013-Present, Economics Dept.). In 2017, He unanimously received the National Academic Qualification as an Associate Professor of Telecommunications, and since 2019 He is an Associate Professor of Telecommunications at the same University, where he currently teaches the course of “Elements of Telecommunications” (formerly Signals and Telecommunications) in the Computer Engineering degree, the course of “Software Defined Radio” in the Laurea Magistralis in Information and Communication Technologies, and the course of “Lab. of statistical analysis systems” in the Laurea Magistralis of the School in Economics and Business Studies.Since the academic year 2013/2014, He is also in charge of the course of “Cognitive Communications” in the Ph.D. degree in Applied Electronics at the Department of Engineering, University of Roma Tre. He is a Senior Member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and an active member of the following IEEE Societies: IEEE Standard Association, IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Software Defined Networks, IEEE Communications, IEEE Signal Processing, IEEE Vehicular Technology. Finally, He is also a member of CNIT (Italian Inter-Universities Consortium for Telecommunications).His research interests are in the field of ground penetrating radar, software and cognitive radio, digital signal and image processing for telecommunications and economics, code acquisition, and synchronization for the 3G mobile communication systems and multimedia communication. Since 2016, he has been the Chair of the IEEE 1900.1 working group on “Definitions and Concepts for Dynamic Spectrum Access: Terminology Relating to Emerging Wireless Networks, System Functionality, and Spectrum Management.” He is the Leader of the WP 3.4 on “Development of Advanced GPR Data Processing Technique” of the European COST Action TU1208– Civil Engineering Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar. He is an Editor of the IEEE SDN NEWSLETTER, was the General Chair of the Series of International Workshops on Signal Processing for Secure Communications (SP4SC-2014, 2015, and 2016), and the Lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Advanced Ground Penetrating Radar Signal Processing Techniques for the Signal Processing Journal (Elsevier). He also served as a Reviewer for several IEEE TRANSACTIONS, the IET (formerly IEE) Proceedings, EURASIP, and the ELSEVIER journals. He was a TPC Member for several IEEE international conferences and symposia in the same fields.

Prof. Simonetta Alessandro

Chair of the Artificial Intelligence Commission of the Chartered Engineers of Rome

Alessandro Simonetta is a Computer Engineer with 26 years of experience as a public employee. Since September 2022, he has been a Technology Manager at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and is currently assigned to the Office of the Inspector General of ASI. From December 12, 2022, to July 14, 2024, he served as the Director of the IT, Logistics, and Digital Transition Directorate and the Head of Digital Transition for ASI (pursuant to Article 17 of the Italian Digital Administration Code). He worked as an IT professional for 23 years in technological innovation consulting with INAIL (the national public body for the mandatory insurance of workers against work accidents and professional diseases), and since 2011, he was the coordinator of a professional sector. Within his public assignments, he represented his agency as an expert member of UNINFO in the UNI/CT 504 “Software and System Engineering” Technical Committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7), holding the role of Vice-President, and the UNI/CT 510 “Security” Technical Committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7). Furthermore, since 2023, he has served as the Liaison Officer for UNI/CT 510 to UNI/CT 533 “Artificial Intelligence” (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC 42 and CEN/CLC JTC 21). In addition to his professional activity, he has been teaching computer engineering subjects as an Adjunct Professor at Roman Universities for 24 years, and is the author of 6 books and over 30 scientific articles. Since 2024, he has been the Chairman of the Thematic Intelligence Commission at the Order of Engineers of Rome.

Maria Cristina Paoletti

National Institute of Industrial Accident Insurance (Inail), Italy

Maria Cristina Paoletti is a fully qualified actuary with a bachelor’s degree in actuarial Statistics and Level II master’s degree in information systems governance from the University of "Roma Tre". She has been registered with the National Order of Actuaries since 1999. Since 2012, she serves as Coordinator of the Statistical and Actuarial Department at the National Institute of Industrial Accident Insurance (Inail). Previously, she oversaw socioeconomic analysis in the Institute's Permanent Socioeconomic Observatory Sector. Since 2008, she has been involved in sample surveys and business performance improvement in the Activity Planning Sector of the CSA also achieving the award in the ISSA 2016 best practice with the work titled "Measurement of workers wellness is necessary for a good governance" and in 2019 with the work "General data protection regulation n. 679/2016 and a data transparency: a quality approach" . Since 2013 is UNINFO member in the UNI/CT 504 “Software and System Engineering” Technical Committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7) and since 2022 liaison officer with UNI/CT 533 "Artificial Intelligence" and CEN/CNC/ JTC 21.
